UConn forward Maya Moore was the first player selected overall, taken by the Minnesota Lynx. Her selection was hailed by a Lynx rally telecast from the Target Center in Minneapolis. In all, 36 players were selected through three rounds in an event presented on several ESPN platforms.
espnW conducted a video stream/chat with fans on its Facebook page with WNBA draftees after the first round. Katie Richman, ESPN W’s social media expert, gives us the recap.
“Our post-draft player live stream was a whirlwind. We talked to seven players including Maya Moore,” Richman said. “The stream setup was right in the middle of WNBA draft traffic. We had a fun time as [UConn head coach] Geno [Auriemma] was swarmed [by media] next to us…almost had our camera kicked over.”
