The 2013 World Series begins tonight (ESPN Radio, 7 p.m. pre-game) and although ESPN play-by-play analyst Dave O’Brien won’t be working for the network on this assignment, he still will be perched behind home plate calling the game for the Boston Red Sox’ flagship radio station, WEEI.
O’Brien, a Boston-area native, calls the bulk of Red Sox games with Joe Castiglione, mixing in Monday Night Baseball games for ESPN and then switching over to college basketball once that season kicks off.
Already the owner of two World Series rings – one from the Florida Marlins and one from Boston – O’Brien seeks his third piece of bling beginning tonight and notes in the Front & Center podcast above: “I have three children, so I really need the third.”
Additionally, O’Brien discusses how his ESPN role helps him do his job better, how he prepares for college basketball in the midst of baseball and, for the first time, goes into detail on his hidden for predicting a baby’s sex solely by looking at the expectant woman.
