Ice icons Hull, Chelios taking to new roles as ESPN #WCH2016 analysts
On the ice, Chris Chelios and Brett Hull won Stanley Cups and the World Cup of Hockey.
They also represented Team USA in the Olympics. Both are in the Hockey Hall of Fame. On air at ESPN, however, they are rookies again, learning the television ropes from ESPN’s talented lineup of hockey commentators and production personnel.
They have provided studio analysis for six consecutive days (Sept. 17-22) of World Cup of Hockey 2016 doubleheaders. They return to the studio for the semifinals: Team Russia versus Team Canada Saturday at 6:30 p.m. on ESPN2 and Team Europe versus Team Sweden Sunday at 1 p.m. on ESPN.
The best-of-three Final begins Tuesday, Sept. 27. We caught up with Hull and Chelios, as well as studio host Linda Cohn, to talk about the hockey legends’ time at ESPN.
