On Monday, the V Foundation for Cancer Research announced a collaboration with the Miami Dolphins, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and ESPN to support important cancer research. The Dolphins are the second NFL franchise to collaborate with the V Foundation, joining the Kansas City Chiefs who came on board in October.
Through this new collaboration, the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, whose mission is to improve people’s lives through financial support for innovative cancer research, will be contributing $100,000 to the V Foundation. These funds will be matched by the V Foundation for an Early Career Investigator grant to be awarded at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
The new program was introduced during ESPN’s Monday Night Countdown before the Patriots-Dolphins game, and ESPN commentators Sean McDonough and Lisa Salters joined ESPN Corporate Citizenship and members of the Dolphins for a special meet-and-greet with a cancer patient, a cancer survivor and their doctor at the Dolphins practice facility over the weekend.
In the video above, ESPN’s Vice President, Corporate Citizenship, Kevin Martinez, discusses the collaboration and how it supports ESPN’s ongoing efforts to win the war against cancer.
Jon McLeod, Bill Hofheimer, and Jacqueline Blandi produced the video.
