As the 2020-21 college basketball season comes to a close this weekend, SEC Network college basketball analyst Andraya Carter is finishing a year that saw her become one of SECN’s lead studio analysts, continue her work as a game analyst, and make her ESPN debut throughout the first and second rounds of the NCAA Women’s Tournament.

Carter will be live from Charlotte’s SEC Network studios this weekend to cover South Carolina’s run toward a third national title and is also featured in the latest episode of espnW’s Around The Rim podcast debuting this weekend. In honor of the Women’s Final Four and there being four quarters in the women’s game, this Lady Vol For Life is giving Front Row her favorite four memories of an unforgettable season.

1. BEING IN THE SEC NETWORK STUDIOS

“We had so much fun on SEC Now, and [commentators] Alyssa Lang, Steffi Sorensen and I had “Ladies Night” a couple of times during the season and had a blast. I also had a great time giving [analyst] Coach [Andy] Landers a hard time, of course.”

2. WORKING MY FIRST SEC TOURNAMENT AS A STUDIO ANALYST

Carter (L) and Alyssa Lang (ESPN)

“We had six amazing days of such competitive games, and the coaches were all so open to talking to us after each of them. If I had to pick a favorite game of the tournament, it would be Georgia upsetting Texas A&M. The Dawgs played so hard and played together to get the win. That game set up [Georgia’s] Joni [Taylor] and [South Carolina’s] Dawn [Staley], two Black female head coaches, to go against each other to make [SEC Tournament title game] history. That was so special to be a part of.”

3. MY FIRST TIME IN THE ESPN STUDIOS IN BRISTOL

(L-R) Carter, Kelsey Riggs and Monica McNutt (ESPN)

“It was an absolutely incredible experience. I think the entire two days just could not be beat. It was truly special to work with the ESPN crew, and [commentators] Monica [McNutt] and Kelsey [Riggs] were so much fun. All three of us had chemistry despite it being our first time working together as a team.”

4. WORKING MY FIRST ASSIGNMENT WITH MEN’S BASKETBALL AS AN IN-GAME ANALYST

Carter provided commentary on ESPN’s G League coverage. (ESPN)

“Coordinating producer Linda Schulz [men’s college basketball] and managing producer Thomas Kintner (G League) gave me new opportunities with men’s basketball this season. So much fun and a great chance to grow.”

SEC Network host and reporter Alyssa Lang had this to say about Carter’s rise this season: “Anytime I do a show with Draya, I know we are going to have a ton of fun. She not only knows the game inside out, she brings such fresh and personable commentary to any broadcast she’s part of.”
