January 2020 was the last time ESPN Next welcomed a cohort of production assistants. The leadership development program is excited to announce it has returned to hiring.
“We’re thrilled to bring in new talent to continue taking ESPN into the future,” says ESPN Next Director Celia Bouza.
The program stands by three pillars: leadership, exploration, and diversity. It provides employees a chance to network with leaders and lead in their everyday assignments, explore different areas of ESPN, and work with a diverse group of people, ensuring inclusivity.
The 18-month program will expose production assistants to different areas of content through two rotations in the program’s seven pods (listed below). Each pod is home to various studio shows and live events. Production assistants will learn everything they need to know in order to grow as storytellers and leaders. In addition, they’ll be exposed to the larger business through workshops and a project focusing on ESPN priorities.

Although it’s a program based on content, ESPN Next has also seen its employees move into other areas of ESPN and The Walt Disney Company.
“Our goal is to train and develop the next generation of leaders, and if someone has a desire to work in another area within our business, we’re committed to helping them get there,” says Bouza.
