ESPN sideline reporter Alexis Nunes and senior writer Mark Ogden discuss the importance of teamwork inside and outside of London's Wembley Stadium as Manchester's cross-city rivals clash
Whenever English Premier League cross-city rivals Manchester City and Manchester United duel, the match promises to be epic. Saturday, June 3, in London’s historic Wembley Stadium, the sides clash in the Men’s FA Cup Final, streaming live exclusively on ESPN+ (10 a.m. ET).
Sideline reporter Alexis Nunes and senior writer Mark Ogden – who will be live blogging from Wembley on ESPN.com – are part of a dedicated team on both sides of the Atlantic contributing to multiplatform coverage.
In the video above, Nunes and Ogden discuss the importance of that collaboration amongst colleagues in ESPN’s Bristol, Conn., headquarters, Los Angeles and London offices, and Wembley on-site production.
With their respective on-site duties, Nunes and Ogden will try to immerse viewers and readers in the atmosphere, each also told Front Row.
“People want to feel like they are right there on the pitch with the players, and when I get to be pitch-side, I’m privy to a lot of that,” said Nunes, who will also provide pre-match coverage at 8:30 a.m. ET on ESPN+ and ESPN2.
“That becomes crucial to the broadcast because we want the fans and the viewers to have that feeling that they are just as much a part of the match as everyone else in the stadium.”
Said Ogden: “The importance of being there is huge because you can see which players are warming up, which substitutes are going on, which player is going on the bench, which tactical changes are being made . . . When you are live blogging, you have to take into account everything that’s going on and off the pitch because sometimes that’s the story that defines the game.”
