One of the best parts of being a sports fan is the arguments. Whether with friends, family, colleagues at work, or people you don’t even know, sports always has something to argue about, and it’s usually prompted by a simple question.

Did you see that play? Who’s your favorite player? Why did – insert team here – make that trade? Knowing this, the editorial staff at ESPN.com decided to pose its own question, which spurred plenty of debate last week: Who are the Top 100 athletes of the 21st century, so far?
While the project continues this week, Front Row chatted with Vice President, Executive Editor, Lauren Reynolds to understand how and why this list came together.
