The madness of March is almost here and ESPN’s college basketball coverage is heating up. While the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Tournament drove record viewership last year, the momentum has continued with the regular season currently up over the phenomenal 2023-24 season.

With interest in women’s hoops at an all-time high, ESPN brought the women’s edition of its premier pregame show, College GameDay Covered by State Farm, back on the road this season. This weekend the program makes its third on-campus stop – at No. 3 Notre Dame on Sunday, March 2 (11 a.m. ET, ESPN, ESPN+, Disney+) before the Irish host No. 25 Louisville.

Before departing for South Bend, Ind., coordinating producer Baron Miller discusses what he’s learned and what he loves most about the show during his first season at the helm.

How has College GameDay differed from other shows you’ve worked on?
College GameDay is unique because we broadcast courtside right up until tip-off. This gives us the rare opportunity to speak with coaches and student-athletes just minutes before they compete. The schools have been incredible in granting us such close access, even allowing us to interview players during warm-ups, which has been a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.

What stands out most regarding the crew that works on this show?
I think what makes this show special is the crew’s genuine love for women’s college basketball and their dedication to growing the sport. It’s an incredible environment to work in because everyone truly cares about the product we put on air, both in front of and behind the camera. Elle [Duncan], Draya [Andraya Carter] and Chiney [Ogwumike]’s passion and commitment to the game are contagious. [Producer] Michelle Rosenhouse has done a tremendous job leading this team and we only wish we had more time to cover it — there are so many great athletes and amazing stories to share!

“The reaction has been amazing! Schools and fans are hyped up and absolutely love having us. The excitement around women’s college basketball hasn’t slowed down at all— if anything, it’s only grown. The momentum of the sport is undeniable, and the fan base continues to get stronger and more passionate. Every stop we’ve made has been electric, proving just how much energy and enthusiasm there is for the game!” – Miller on the reaction from schools and fans when GameDay has come to town this year

What additions or innovations on the show are you most proud of this year?
We introduced the Proto Hologram this year and are still refining its role in the show. This cutting-edge technology allows a guest from anywhere in the country to appear as if they are right there with us. They can see and hear everything, and the audience can see and hear them, creating an immersive experience for everyone!

Proto Hologram is new to College GameDay this year.

What are you looking forward to during the remainder of the season and beyond?
I’m really looking forward to the NCAA Tournament! With so many great storylines and superstar players, it’s going to be an exciting ride. I can’t wait to cover the Final Four in Tampa and see which teams make it through! Plus…we have a few surprise guests lined up that I can’t wait to have on the show!
