It’s what everyone needs/wants/thrives on but few truly get it during the monstrosity that is Super Bowl Week. Which is exactly why ESPN having two experienced and connected NFL national reporters is such a boon for our Super Bowl LIX coverage.
As “embedded” reporters with the Philadelphia Eagles (hometowner Sal Paolantonio) and the Kansas City Chiefs (Jeff Darlington), ESPN offers fans a truly inside-look at how each team prepares throughout the week in New Orleans. Our footprint is big for this year’s game (and it will be HUGE in two years!), but it’s the boots-on-the-ground efforts of Sal and Jeff that offers yet another differentiator for the company’s unmatched reporting and overall presentation of the sport’s biggest week.
Sal, covering his 30th Super Bowl for ESPN, and Jeff (fourth) both took on demanding assignments this week with appearances across ESPN – and off-network too – consistently delivering up-to-the-minute information and storylines.
From the time the teams touched down in New Orleans (seven days from kick off), the duo has followed their every move – attending practices, speaking to players and attending media availabilities.
The weeks’ worth of work will all culminate on Super Bowl Sunday when both reporters join Postseason NFL Countdown.
Serving as fans go-to destination for Super Bowl Sunday news, information, analysis and feature storytelling, the four-hour special edition of Countdown will be live from Caesars Superdome from 10. a.m. – 2 p.m ET on ESPN. Post-Super Bowl coverage begins after the confetti falls and includes NFL Primetime live from the field recapping the game and welcoming players and coaches from the winning team on-set. More information on the Super Bowl Sunday edition of Postseason NFL Countdown will be made available on Friday.
