Feeling the adrenaline rush, ESPN’s Shulman looks forward to calling World Series Game 7

Game 7: the favorite phrase of sports fans everywhere. But what’s it like being the voice of Game 7?
Tonight, as the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians look to end their respective World Series Championship droughts, ESPN’s lead baseball play-by-play commentator, Dan Shulman, will once again provide the radio call of this anticipated event.
It will mark Shulman’s third time calling a World Series Game 7 for ESPN Radio. His first was in 2011 – the St. Louis Cardinals versus the Texas Rangers – and then again in 2014 for the San Francisco Giants versus the Kansas City Royals.
A few hours before game time, Shulman offered thoughts on his approach tonight:
“Calling a Game 7 is as good as it gets,” he said. “Your adrenaline is flowing right from the first pitch. I want to give all the appropriate historical info that comes with a Game 7, but most of all, I just want to stay in the moment. Any moment could decide the outcome of the game, so staying on top of the action, the strategy, the moves that may be made, and setting the scene as much as possible – that’s where my focus is from the opening pitch.”
