This week, ESPN journalism platforms The Undefeated and Outside the Lines explored the story of history-making Boston Red Sox minor league coach Bianca Smith, the first Black female coach in professional baseball. Branson Wright told Smith’s story in written form on TheUndefeated.com while ESPN baseball analyst Jessica Mendoza, also a pioneer in the sport, interviewed her for the OTL on SC segment on the noon ET SportsCenter.

ESPN’s Rob King has been named chairman of the board of the Center for Investigative Reporting/Reveal, a nonprofit organization he has been a board member of since 2016. He was asked to take the position by retiring board chair Phil Bronstein. King is Senior Vice President and Editor-At-Large ESPN Content.
