How ESPN shared the day of Mariano Rivera’s final game with the future Hall of Famer
Before he pitched for the final time at Yankee Stadium, future Hall of Famer, Mariano Rivera, made a special appearance at yesterday’s ESPN New York event at the NY Athletic Club.
Joined by ESPN NY 98.7FM afternoon host, Michael Kay, Rivera reflected on his career, what he’s planning on doing next, and even the potential to take centerfield one time before his career officially comes to an end this weekend in Houston.
Over 240 ESPN Audio partners and listeners enjoyed a lunch, photos with Mo and a 40 minute conversation where Mo opened up about his one regret (the steroid era), his relationship with Derek Jeter, playing his last game at Yankee Stadium and why he treated everyone the same.
A podcast from the event is available here.
Following his emotional farewell to the Yankees faithful at Yankee Stadium last night, Rivera was interviewed on-field by ESPN’s Tim Kurkjian. Photos from that interview are also included in the gallery above.
